Last night we had a great evening in Lightning Ridge and were hosted by the local cranky womens association! Keeping up with the high standard set in Coonamble and Walgett the food was excellent.
There was a quick round of trivia before we were treated to an inspiring talk from Sara Carrigan and a video of her gold medal performance at the 2004 Athens Olympics. She then surprised everybody by pulling the medal out of her pocket! The night was topped off by a charity auction with a lot of impressive prizes donated by the local businesses. The use of Ash Weilinga as auctioneer is the first agenda item at the post ride wrap up meeting! Between the auction and trivia the community of Lightning Ridge contributed well over $4000.

The momentum is building, with great community support, both Coonamble and Walgett have set a very high bar in terms of fine dining and generosity! Between a calcutta held on Saturday night and Monday evening auction the Coonamble Community have raised around $10000. Last night, helped by Brad McGees inspiring coaching session and some crafty auctioneering the Walgett community pitched in around $9500.
